Christine, a founder member of the Symbols on Silk team, has worked for the company for 11 years. She is energetic, lively and passionate about making beautiful jewellery. Christine spends countless hours beading our beautiful Afro Chic necklaces and bracelets, concentrating and counting each bead to create our 9 colourful designs.

This dedicated jewellery maker and proud mom gave birth to a very premature baby girl, Queen Angela Stuurman,  24 years ago when she was in her early twenties. As a single mom with limited work opportunities, times were tough for many years. Despite Christine’s financial challenges, she still managed to provide Queen with a good academic education and allowed her to explore her love of music.

Queen’s angelic voice lead her on a wonderful road of music opportunities.
This past weekend Queen had the honour of performing at City Hall for the Cape Town Expozed talent competition and was awarded a Mayoral certificate of recognition for Best Female Vocalist.  She has been selected to perform at a festival in Mozambique. This upcoming event will give her the opportunity to show case her amazing vocal talent as well as her enthusiastic stage presence to the people of Beira.

We would like to show our support for this talented young lady by donating R30 for every Afro Chic necklace and bracelet purchased online until Sunday, 5 May 2019.

This contribution will go toward her trip to Mozambique.

We will also be offering a discount on our Mama Africa design in honour of this beautiful young
woman of Africa who is following her heart  and  making her dreams come true.
